Another winter storm with windy snow, dangerous winds coming to Northeast, Great Lakes

Cities and cities from the Great Lakes region to parts of the northeast are preparing for more snow and strong winds as the next in the series of rapidly moving rockers threaten the region.

The strongest cliffs in the ongoing parade will let in on Monday night, bringing the potential for dangerous snow showers with whiteout and strong gusts up to 60 mph.

Nearly 27 million people are under high wind warnings or wind warnings from Chicago and Milwaukee to the east through parts of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Upstate New York.

While the exact timing is still uncertain, snow and hard winds are expected to begin Monday night.

The powerful winds will move inland off the large lakes and create the risk of overturned trees and scattered power cuts.

These winds are expected to affect parts of Interstate 90 in western New York and Interstate 81 in northern central New York.

Early Tuesday morning, Fox Forecast Center monitors the potential for heavy snow showers along the I-90 corridor.

The limiting factor for the snow will be the speed at which the cliff system moves through the area. If it moves too fast, it will limit snowfall intensity. However, if the showers are able to utilize more storm energy, it can lead to heavier snow and dangerous whiteout conditions.

The snow will continue to move to the south and east all day Tuesday, and snow showers will subside later on Tuesday afternoon.

Buffalo and Watertown in New York are again at the forefront of local heavy snow. Through Sunday, Buffalo had seen 48.7 inches of snow so far this winter.

After this system, another cliff will move through the region in the middle of the week. This time, the low -pressure system will track through Upper Midwest and then towards New England, which can bring light to moderate snow showers to areas such as Boston and New York City.

Although snow volumes will not be large, the system can cause minor travel disorders.

If the low one remains further to the north, the upper parts of Michigan and the western and Upstate New York can again see snow and strong wind.
