Mavs’ Klay Thompson returns the clock, ties franchise record in first quarter against wizards

A regular Monday night Dalla’s Mavericks game against the low wizards was set on fire by Klay Thompson in the first quarter.

Thompson turned the clock back with a performance reminiscent of his iconic 37-point, nine 3-Pointer quarter he had for Warriors in January 2015. While he didn’t quite break his own NBA record of 37 points and 9 3-pitches in A quarter he tied Mavericks’ franchise record for 3s in a quarter of seven 3-Pointer in Monday’s first quarter against Wizards.

It is safe to say that Thompson gets the most out of his limited minutes, which Dallas placed him on a 24-minute limitation in the game.

Luka Doncic set the franchise record in February 2022 with seven 3-Pointers in the first quarter of a game against Clippers. He continued to score 51 points that night.

Thomp’s 21 points and seven 3s were part of an early offensive avalanche from Mavericks, which held a 42-16 lead over the 6-38 trolls at the end of the first quarter.
