Trump offers buyouts to federal staff, read the letter

  • The Trump Administration offers buyouts to members of the federal workforce.
  • Employees who resign will have full pay and benefits through September, officials said.
  • Some exceptions apply to military, post, immigration and national security roles.

President Donald Trump offers buyouts to federal workers who do not want to stay under the new administration, according to a letter sent to government employees on Tuesday.

The letter, shared by the US Office of Personnel Administration, Federal’s staff said from January 28 to February 6 to decide whether they would like to resign from this program.

Those who resign will receive full pay and benefits regardless of their daily workload and would not be required to participate in personal work.

The website listed an exposed severance letter specifying that employees would perform “reasonable and usual tasks and processes to facilitate” their departure.

The resignation was available to all federal employees full time except for military staff, US postal service employees, those in immigration enforcement and national security roles and other positions specifically excluded by an agency.

The letter said a recent order issued by Trump meant that there would be a significant reform in the federal workforce, as it said would be “built about four pillars.” These pillars were: return to the office, performance culture, more streamlined and flexible workforce and improved behavioral standards.
