‘Restricted Distribution’ in the UK of recalled Coca-Cola soft drinks | Money news

There has been a “limited distribution to the UK” by Coca-Cola and other soft drinks that have been remembered for security fears, says Food Standard’s Agency (FSA).

High levels of a chemical by-product from chlorine disinfectants were found in some of the drinks, including appletis, Coca-Cola Original Taste, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Cook and Sprite Zero.

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, the company’s bottling partner said that batches had been taken off the shelves in BelgiumAt Luxembourg and Holland After testing revealed “elevated levels” of chlorat.

FSA’s Tina Potter said the withdrawal related to a “small number of their soft drinks” which contained higher levels of the chemical.

“We can confirm that there has been limited distribution to the UK of the products affected,” she said Tuesday.

“We work with relevant authorities and the company directly to assess whether there is a food safety concern for British consumers.

“If we identify unsafe food, we take steps to make sure it is removed and warns consumers.”

Chlorate can cause iodine deficiency and is a by-product of chlorine disinfectants that are widely used in water treatment and food processing.
