Warriors take care of Tanking -Jazz Bag Podziemski, Schroder – The Mercury News

San Francisco-Warriors won 10 out of 30 games after starting season 12-3, a surprising fall that has sunk them under .500.

But the jazz has 10 wins all season.

Utah is not particularly interested in winning this season and it is even before injuries depleted their list at the Chase Center.

When playing against what looked like a G League list, Warriors did not need Steph Curry (emergency control), Daymond Green (Kalv) and Jonathan Kuminga (ankle) to surpass Utah. It was not a particularly inspiring victory, but a 114-103 victory nevertheless.

Dennis Schroder (23 points) scored his most points in a game as a warrior and Brandin Podziemski (20 points, seven rebounds, six assists) were stars and continued his solid game since he returned last week from an abdominal tribe. They were two of five warriors in double and overcome 30 points from Collin Sexton. Golden State (23-23) never drew after the second quarter, although its lead was hairy in the fourth.

Warriors fell behind 17-7 in the first four minutes, but ended the first quarter on a 20-10 race. No team looked particularly sharp, which was not surprising considering the talent level on the floor.

Golden State forced jazz into six revenue in the first quarter, but often struggled to convert at the other end. They fumbled a 2-on-1 quick break, Kevon Looney smoked a RIP-SIX Layup, and Podziemski was encouraged to travel on what should have been a transition and 1.

The most dangerous player on the floor looked like Sexton, the Jazzkombo -Guard, who seemed to come to the edge with ease. He scored eight quick points before Steve Kerr called Gary Payton II to check him.

Warriors took control of a 9-0 race to start the second quarter. Podziemski pushed the pace, Quinten Post spaced the floor, and Dennis Schroder had influence.

Sexton was Utah’s only reliable source of consistent violation. He played for stretches with Micah Potter, Svi Mykhailiuk and Kyle Flipowski a two-way player, a partially guaranteed veteran and a 21-year-old second round. Sexton fell 20 points in the first half on 9-for-12 shooting as no other jazz player broke double.

Podziemski and Schroder drove Warriors to an 11-point half-time line that combined for 23 points on 8-for-15 shooting. Without Curry, Green and Kuminga, they picked up the scoring and playmaking escaped.

Schroder, shortly after hitting his third 3 and in the middle of one of his most productive games as a warrior, got helped to the closet. He immediately grabbed his left knee after landing on a drive. Minutes later he returned to the bench with his left ankle wrapped in ice. He stretched it out with a band, threw the wrapping and returned to the game before the third quarter expired.
