Dennis Schröder fuel wins over short -haired jazz – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Box score

San Francisco hype for Warriors’ first night in a back-to-back did not match the expected mood of the Chase Center when Oklahoma City Thunder came to town on Wednesday night. First, Warriors had to take care of the business without Steph Curry, Daymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga against the short -haired Utah Jazz.

As these two teams faced each other in the second game of the NBA season 2024-25, Warriors won with 41 points in Utah. Tuesday night was definitely not so easy for Warriors to fight until the end to beat Jazz 114-103.

How did they pull out the victory? 3-point line and look after the ball. Warriors made 17 3-Pointers, nine more than jazz to a 27-point advantage. They also had only nine revenue, scored 26 points from 15 jazz turns and scored 25 second chance.

Dennis Schröder and Brandin Podziemski combined to score 43 points in Curry’s absence. Schröder scored a team high 23 points, his most in a warriors jersey, and was 5 of 13 on 3-Pointers. Podziemski added 20 points on 5-of-12-shooting and 4 of 11 on triangles for his second 20-point game this season and only since December 19.

Here are three takeaways from Warriors, which are improved to 23-23 of the season.

Damage scary

With Curry out due to emergency management for his bilateral knee -tendinitis, Warriors needed others to score. This was a first -class game for Schröder to take advantage of a great opportunity, and early on he did not disappoint. Schröder was a plus-9 in the first half across 19 minutes with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists.

But early in the second half, Schröder had anyone who held their collective breath. As he walked up to a left -handed layup, Schröder came down hard and immediately grabbed his left knee. He remained on the floor and needed help from the director of medical services drew yoder and director of sports medicine and performance Rick Celebrini to make it down the tunnel and back to Warriors’ dressing room.

It looked like Schröder’s evening was about to end with an early exit. Apparently not.

Later in the quarter, Schröder was back on the bench with a heat pad packed around his left ankle as he stretched with a ribbon. At marking 3:21 in the third quarter, Schröder returned his return.

When he went to the dressing room, Schröder was 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting. After returning from the dressing room, Schröder scored another eight points and walked 3 of 9 from the field.

Trust Looney

On the same day, Trayce Jackson-Davis was named a rising star for the NBA All-Star Weekend at the Chase Center, the second year’s Pro started its third consecutive match and 37 season. After the first quarter, however, Jackson-Davis was a non-factor. He played six minutes in 10 seconds in the first quarter and did not get a second chance for the rest of the game.

Veterans Center Kevon Looney pulled seven rebounds in the first half, five in the first quarter and two in the second, and started the second half instead of Jackson-Davis. While Jackson-Davis was a minus-7 in his first half stint, Looney was a plus-12.

Throughout three quarters, Looney was up to a Plus-15 in 17 minutes from the bench thanks to six points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. He ended up scoring six points and came down with a game-high 11 rebounds for defense and five on offensive.

Looney’s 24 minutes played was his most from the bench this season, and his plus-23 was number two to only Gui Santos, who was a plus-25.

Slow movement for me

For the first time in 15 days, Kyle Anderson was back on the field and in action for Warriors. The 11-year-old veteran last played on January 13 after missing five straight matches injured, as well as being a DNP (playing) in Warriors’ previous match. Within a minute after he returned, Anderson had his influence by throwing a thump down.

Three minutes later, Anderson got up to get two two points again.

Anderson scored four points on these two cans in the second quarter and grabbed a rebound of just under six minutes. Although he remained on the bench throughout the third quarter, Anderson started the fourth with Quinten Post.

There are many nights where Anderson is the odd man out. Not Tuesday night. He was needed and ended with six points and two rebounds in 11 minutes from the bench.
