Timberwolves 121-113 Suns (29 January 2025) Game Recap

Phoenix-Anthony Edwards scored 33 points, Julius Randle added 28 and Minnesota Timberwolves beat Phoenix Suns 121-113 Wednesday night for their fourth equal victory.

Timberwolves pulled in large parts of the night, but gathered near the end of the third quarter for an 81-77 benefit. Nickeil Alexander-Walker made three 3-pointers early in the fourth to help Minnesota push to a 10-point lead.

Alexander-Walker ended with 23 points, making 5 out of 10 shots behind the arch. Timberwolves – who swept Suns out of the playoffs last season in the first round – shot 56% off the field.

Phoenix had his three-game-winning series of cracks. Kevin Durant led the team by 33 points, while Devin Booker added 28, and Bradley Beal had 17 Suns’ violation stopped in the third quarter with only 18 points on 7 of 22 shoots.

Minnesota coach Chris Finch was thrown out in the third quarter after receiving another technical error. Both were to discuss with officials. The forward Jaden McDaniels was also thrown out in the last minute after a short change with a booker.

Suns led 59-55 benefits at half, with Booker scoring 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Takeaways

Timberwolves: It was a nice come-from-back victory after Minnesota saw sluggish for most of the first half. Timberwolves played without forward Naz Reid (illness) and Guard Ditte Divincenzo (Big Toe Supecture).

Suns: Phoenix has been playing better in the last few weeks, but Wednesday’s game was a return to bad habits. Suns had 16 revenue.

Keying moment

Randle stole a bad care from Booker and sent to Edwards for a one-handed jam that made it 100-86 with 6:56 back.
