Champions League: Fire off outside Man City Stadium

A fire at the perimeter of Etihad Stadium was extinguished Wednesday when fans arrived in Manchester City’s decisive Champions League clash against Club Brugge.

The fire broke out near the entrance to Colin Bell West Stand as City revealed their new January signatures nearby.

The city confronted the fire would not delay kick-off.

“Emergency aid services are present on stage and the fire is now extinguished,” City said in a statement.

“The security of all participation in the match tonight is our highest priority, and as such, all events planned for West Stand Reception have been canceled, including the welcome event for new players and the first team arrival.”

No injuries were immediately reported to police.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service told ESPN in a statement: “Just before 6 pm tonight, two fire engines from Blackley and Philips Park Fire Station called for reports of a building fire involving an extension in the parking lot in the football parking lot On Rowsley Street, Manchester.

“The crews arrived quickly on stage. Firefighters wearing a respiratory apparatus used two snake mutters to extinguish the fire, they currently dampen all hotspots and make the area safe.

“Firefighters have been present for about thirty minutes and are still on stage.”

City, which is 25. In the Champions League table ahead of the final group fixture, must hit Brugge to get knockout playing games.
