Lay’s classic potato chips remember raised to the highest level of risk of FDA

Food and Drug Administration just raised its recall of Lay’s classic potato chips to the highest level of risk.

On December 16, Frito-Lay issued a recall to 6,344 (13 ounces) bags of Lay’s classic potato chips, according to a Alarm issued by FDA. Chips were distributed to various stores and online stores in Oregon and Washington, where customers were able to buy snacks from November 3, 2024.

Lay’s classic potato chips were the only ones included in the recall and they were distributed in two states: Oregon and Washington. No other products, flavors, sizes or variation packages are involved.

On January 27, FDA escalated the recall to the highest level of riskClass I, which means exposure to or consumption of the product can cause ”serious negative health consequences or death.

Why is Lay’s Potato Chips remember?

Chips may contain non-declared milk, Frito-Lay said after being informed by a consumer.

“Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk risk the risk of a serious or life -threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” the FDA said on December 16.

Chips got classification at the highest level because milk is one of the FDA’s eight “Large food allergens“This means that it is one of the products that can lead to hives, rashes, cramps, dizziness, vomiting and/or diarrhea, raised vocal cords, respiratory distress and even unconsciousness among those who are allergic to it.

No allergic reactions have been reported in connection with the recall according to Frito-Lay.

Which Lay’s Potato Chips are affected?

The recalled chips are in flexible 13-ounce bags distributed in Oregon and Washington with UPC codes 28400 and 31041. Affected bags must have a “guaranteed fresh” date on February 11, 2025 and one of the two by manufacturing codes: 6462307xx or 6463307xx.

People with any recalled bag can reach Frito-Lay Consumer Relations on 1-800-352-4477 between 7 p.m. 9 and 16:30 CST, Monday through Friday.

Anyone who is allergic or sensitive to milk should not eat chips and throw out any affected bags.
