2 death, 3 wounded in Soulsville shooting near Lemoyne-Oen College

Memphis, Tenn. (WMC) – Two people have died and three others are fighting for their lives after a shooting Wednesday afternoon in a quarter across the street from Lemoyne -owen College.

Memphis Police Department has blocked part of Walker Avenue outside the school with a criminal scene.

A spokesperson with Lemoyne-Owen College says there are no lockdowns or warnings in place and that no students were affected.

MPD reports that a shooting call came in at 1 p.m. 15.35 from a home in 900 block College Park Drive. Police say the shot was traced to “a disturbance” that happened inside the home.

A victim was declared dead on the scene and four others were rushed to the regional a hospital in critical condition. One of these four was declared dead when he arrived.

A woman is among those who receive treatment at Roh. All the other victims are men.

Police say “it seems that everyone involved is located,” but it is unclear at this time if anyone is withheld. At a press conference, MPD urged those living in the area to control their outdoor surveillance cameras for evidence.
