22 Democrats turn to No on Trump Transportation Pick after OMB PAUSER FINANCE

22 Members of the Senate Democratic Caucus flipped their votes on the previous rep. Sean Duffy (R-WIS.), President Trump’s election to lead the transport department after the White House Budget Office issued a memo on Monday night paused large cuts of federal funding that Democrats warned about would throw the nation in chaos.

Duffy’s nomination went on on the Senate floor Monday with a unanimous vote of 97-0, but a lot of the Topartsian sense of goodwill against the nominated evaporated after Trump’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued guidance, as the Democrats said would freeze very federal assistance .

Twenty -one Democrats and late. Bernie Sanders (i-Vt.), Caucating with Democrats, voted against confirming Duffy on Tuesday afternoon, a remarkable shift in mood that reflects the deep anger of many Democrats over Trump’s recent performing act. He was confirmed with a 77-22 vote.

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), One of the Democrats turning on Duffy, said the budget note spurred to change his mind.

“It is already causing chaos and confusion,” he said of the OMB Directive.

“The president’s freezer funds for important and urgent programs responsible for the Transport Department, and we have to hear from Sean Duffy how he will oppose it,” Blumenthal said.
