Two Young Champions Cup stars to look at England’s Six Nations list

As the 2025 Six Nations Championship is underway, it enters the limelight during the break between the round four and the knockout phase of the Investec Champions Cup.

England Rugby, 2020 Six Nations Champions, aims to rediscover the form that saw them demand back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017.

With standout performances in the 2024-25 Investec Champions Cup, Saracens No. 8 Tom Willis and Harlequins’ Cadan Murley have already got their presence felt on the European club Rugby scene.

Now they seem to translate this success into the six nations and help England regain their place at the top.

From experienced benefits to rising stars, these players are just the start of the English rugby team’s strength, making their mark on one of the world’s most prestigious tournaments.

Read about a few of the Champions Cup stars that can help make or break England’s chances this year.

Tom Willis – Saracens

Tom Willis started internationally, representing England’s Under-18 team in 2016, was then included in the troop for 2018 and 2019 under 20 World Rugby Championships as he scored a winning attempt against Ireland.

Alongside teammate Cadan Murley he was also called up in November 2024 to play for England A against Australia A as part of the 2024 Autumn Nations series, which helped England win the victory after playing the whole game.

In the Champions Cup this season, Willis Saracens leads in carrier with 65, 5th most in the league so far. He is also tied to first with Jack Nowell’s 21 defenders beaten and is hard in first across the circuit with the most tackles (68).

Cadan Murley – Harlequins

Still to start with England’s senior team, Cadan Murley has represented England since 2017 for under-18, under-20 and a quota. Near the end of 2024 he scored two attempts at England A against Australia A.

Murley helped Harlequins get the Champions Cup story in April 2024 and scored an attempt and contributed to their first ever knockout game in the round of 16 over Glasgow.

This season he has earned 20 points on four attempts and made 361 meters on 36 carrier, 3rd-most behind Freddie Steward and Damian Penaud. He has also beaten 14 defenders.

Below you can see the highlights of Cadan Murley, scoring an attempt to get Harlequins somewhere in the Knockout stages in the 2025 Investec Champions Cup season.
