Philippe clement roses iBrox -atmosphere

Philippe Clement believes that the iBrox volume will have a massive role to play tomorrow night when Gers end their UEFA Europa League League -phase campaign.

Union Saint-Gilloise from Belgium is the visitors who are going to Govan as a victory for Philippe Clement’s page combined with results elsewhere, could catapult the page into the top eight and a ticket just for the 16th round.

Light Blues currently sit three points outside the top eight, but can take lots of confidence from their form in the competition this campaign, which has given victories over Malmo, FCSB and Nice.

In a speech with the media ahead of tomorrow’s league phase, Clement concluded: “(Fans) plays a massive role and they have been doing it for more than 100 years.

“That’s also why it’s such a massive club. I’m not that long in this building – a little more than a year – but I’ve already had several amazing evenings in European games.

“It’s a crucial game and the last game of this group phase.

“I don’t want to give my Belgian friends all the tools, but there were some players left in training and some individual work performed.

“In some cases, you can keep an eye on the moving image (elsewhere in the competition), but it is impossible in this system because it can be around target differences and a team can score two goals in two minutes, for example.

“We want to focus on ourselves to go to the three points to work for it, and we will try to score a lot of goals if we can.

“It’s no different than other games because we always want to win and make a big difference to the opponent.

“I know Union Saint-Gilloise is a good and very strong team, so it’s not easy to win against them.”

The Belgian visitors sit on points with rangers on their way into tomorrow’s clash and have won each of their last three matches in the competition.

In fact, the two clubs squeezed against each other in the UEFA Champions League, which qualifies as late as 2022, and Clement is far too aware of the challenge that tomorrow’s opponents will present.

Clement added: “The USG is a tough team to beat and they are very physical.

“They play on the front foot with two strikers, a very creative player behind and wingbacks that are very attacking.

“They are very fast in transitions and good on set pieces, while they are very direct in their games, but they can also keep the ball into the midfield.

“They struggled at the beginning of the season with a new coach and a lot of new players.

“I’m not sure what the situation is now, but they have been associated with Brighton in their recruitment.

“They have found a lot of players in the last few years on a low budget, but who were really good afterwards.

“They have sold players like (Victor) Boniface, who are also going to Saudi -Arabia, and Denis undoited.”
