About Sarah Kinsley:

New York’s Sarah Kinsley is fascinated by creating imaginary worlds and alternative realities. She tries to conjure these with her music, but it requires unlocking your imagination to really go there. Sarah encourages you to try it. We all need an escape.

Born in California and raised in Connecticut and Singapore before returning to New York to go to Columbia University, this perfect unusual left -wing pop singer, songwriter and multi -instrumentalist (Sarah plays piano, synth, guitar, evil martenot, glass bowls and some violin Her recent debut album Escaper) studied music and created very positive noise and conversation online long before she had signed a record deal. Everything she put out was home-spun; Self -produced, self -written and self -priest. Sarah made a habit of documenting her process, and it was such a video, uploaded in response to the misconception that “women do not produce music” that documented Sarah who records the sound of tapping on a desk, opening an Door, turn on a light, thumping on a mattress and flires a wine glass, split them all together, forming the introduction to an earlier ep track, over + underneath that caught the fantasy of a young audience who has been feverish after her every movement since.

Sarah grew up in the world of classical music and studied like Chopin, Debussy and Ravel. She started behind the piano before playing violin in the perfection- like-looking World of Orchestra. Meanwhile, this disciplined music student was a teenager who fell in love with the exciting, “unsubsteen” pop music that dominated the Top 200 radio. Debut LP Escaper in some ways marries many of these unlikely contexts – and stormy pop that flowers with lush string arrangements.

“I’m just such a sucker for massive, magnificent songs,” she says. “I think it’s the classic musician in me who loves symphonies and the Magnum Opus effect.”

Sarah, who was named one of Vevo’s artists to see in 2024, has met the audience singing his songs Unisont throughout the United States and Europe. There is something very common about the experiences that Sarah and her band manage to evoke. The young audience is a fever, greets every song like an old hit and forgets himself for some time in his company, giving Sarah the opportunity to massage their imagination. Support trips, headline trips and early festival performance – it’s as exciting for her fans in England and Europe as it is for them in the United States. They show up in their jumps and travel miles and miles (and miles) to see her.
