A Missouri woman who participated in January 6 Capitol Riot and was later paved by former President Donald Trump has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for causing a deadly drunken driving force while driving on the wrong side of the highway.

Emily Hernandez, 25, who made headlines to steal a fragment of the house’s speaker Nancy Pelosis name tag during the Capitol attack, received the verdict from Franklin County -Judge Ryan Helfrich on Wednesday.

Hernandez was convicted in connection with the death of 32-year-old Victoria Wilson on January 5, 2022.

According to St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Local NBC associated KSDK were also sentenced to another seven years for injuring Wilson’s husband, Ryan E. Wilson, who was in the car at the time of the crash. Both sentences are served simultaneously.

Ryan Wilson, who still requires a sugar cane because of the injuries he sustained, spoke emotionally in court about the crash.

“No matter how loud I cried to her, I couldn’t wake her,” he said, remembering the tragic loss of his wife. “I couldn’t reach her because of the airbakes.”

The accident took place right after 7 p.m. 19, when Hernandez, who was driving on the wrong side of the highway, collided head-on with Wilson’s vehicle in the eastbound lane of I-44. The court’s documents revealed that her blood alcohol content was 0.20%, more than twice as large as the legal limit.

During the criminal conviction, Hernandez turned out of court and expressed remorse for her actions.

“What I did was wicked, and I want to live with that shame for the rest of my life,” she said. “I’m sorry I did and if I could take it all back, I would.”

Victoria Wilson’s mother, Tonie Donaldson, spoke outside the courtroom and said that while justice was earned, the loss of her daughter remains unbearable.

“Nothing will bring her back,” Donaldson said. “It was a certain relief to be able to turn and look her in the eyes and tell her how much harm she had really done to us … It’s a choice she made, she has to live with it. “

Hernandez had previously pleaded guilty to the drunken driving event, but had received national attention for his commitment to Capitol riots on January 6. She was among several rebels pardoned by Trump on his first day in the office.

She originally faced several charges of her role in the attack, including disorderly behavior, disruption of the official procedure and theft of American property. In January 2022, however, she pleaded guilty to a wrongdoing with the number of illegal coming in and remaining in a limited building.

Photos from the rebellion showed that Hernandez was laughing as he held a fragment of a sign that appeared to belong to speaker Pelosis office. She was sentenced to 30 days in prison for her role in the attack.

The fatal DUI crash that killed Victoria Wilson took place just six days before Hernandez was scheduled to enter her guilty plea on January 6th prosecutor.

Hernandez’s penalty marks a dramatic downfall from her short moment in the national light as she now faces a decade behind columns for her reckless actions.
