Five players called up in front of Six Nations -opener

Euan Ferrie, Cameron Henderson, Ewan Johnson, Alexander Masibaka and Ollie Smith are all with the team.

Masibaka will replace Josh Bayliss in the troop, which sustained a groin injury that played for Bath in their victory over sales sharks. He stays with bath for further assessment to determine accurate time scales.

Alexander Masibaka has impressed this season in Pro D2 with the French side Soyux-angoulême. The 23-year-old is currently on loans from Montpellier, who has previously played for the Western Force. He plays across the back row and qualifies for Scotland through his Paisley-born mother.

Unlapped Euan Ferrie was a member of the URC -winning Glasgow Warriors team last season and has previously trained with the national team. Since returning from Injury, Ferrie has played the last three games for Warriors, which appear in both the second and the back row.

Cameron Henderson debuted for Scotland in 2023 against Italy before maintaining a knee injury at the end of the year. He has since jumped back and played in Leicester Tiger’s last seven matches.

Ewan Johnson debuted on Scotland’s summer tour last year in a 73-12 win over Canada. Oyonnax also made his first performance at Scottish Gas Murrayfield against Portugal in 2024 and played in Scotland a win over Chile at the end of the year.

Ollie Smith made his long-awaited comeback in a Glasgow Warriors jersey this weekend in their win over Connacht and caps his return from an injury with a call to the Scotland troop after playing for Emerging Scotland at the end of last year.
