Nbc nightly news scores week-to-week winnings

The first week of president Donald TrumpThe second period did not provide any significant news breaks for evening news broadcasts despite being filled with administrative news. Nbc nightly news with Lester Holt was the only broadcast that recorded winnings from week to week in the total viewers and the valued adults 25-54 demo for the week of January 20th.

Meanwhile the last week of Norah O’Donnell‘s time as anchor of CBS Evening News did not result in viewers. As for ABC World News with David Muir. It remained the most viewed Evening News program on all broadcasts and cable despite not having experienced growth in weeks.

Note: The weekly average of ABC World News tonight and CBS Evening News are based on three days (Tuesday – Thursday), while NBC Nightly News Average is based on four days (Thursday – Friday). Monday’s (1/20/2025) broadcasts were prevented due to the inauguration. ABC’s Friday broadcast was Gentitlet to WNT-ABC while Friday’s CBS Evening News was exempted. These broadcasts are excluded from the weekly and seasonal average.

WNT average 8.1 million gathered viewers and 1,136 million A25-54 viewers for a fixed result in the previous category and a decrease of -7% in the latter compared to the previous week. Looking at its performance along with the same week in 2024 (the week that began January 22), WNT was down -5% in the total viewers and -4% in the demo.

NBC Nightly News finished in the No. 2 place in both measured categories, an average of 6.994 million total viewers and 1,051 million demo viewers. This means a week-to-week winnings of +3% and +7% in the respective measured categories. Year to year, nightly news was down by -5% in the total viewers and the demo.

CBS Evening News saw 4,892 million gathered viewers and 714,000 demo viewers to O’Donnell’s last week in the anchor chair. This means respective dips -3% and -1% compared to the previous week. Compared to its annual tracks, the news broadcast was down by -7% in the total viewers and -11% in the demo.
