Punxsutawney Phil: Legendary Groundhog, Non-so-Legendary Forecasts

Portland (WGME) – Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow?

On Sunday, Punxsutawney Phil comes out of his stump at GOBLER’s dial in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, and reveals his forecast. It can be the early spring or six weeks more in winter.

An early spring was predicted for 2024, only two months ahead of a huge blizzard in April.

Since 1887Phil has predicted 108 longer winters and 21 early sources. He is the longest -running forecasts Groundhog.

Over the past 10 years he was approx. 30% correct.
