First alarm weather: Yellow alarm issued to a local lake snow Wednesday night

Rochester, new – a yellow alarm remains up through. 20 for some local lake effect snow that can affect roads for a few hours tonight.

Temperatures fall off, and this can also produce some icy spots on roads as we fall through the 20s. Any lake effect snow must be pretty smaller, with most areas looking less than an empty new snow on Wednesday night, but it can be just enough to slow down the pendant in some places, especially in finger lakes.

Most of the lake’s snow and the yellow alarm end on Wednesday night when our weather is quiet. Temperatures fall into teens and we see a partially clearing sky. This will set us up for a cool start on Thursday, but with quiet weather, except for some lake flakes in Wayne County. We see intervals of clouds and sun on Thursday, and then clouds up again in front of our next system.

Warmer air will be drawn into western New York, with temperatures that actually climb through their 20s into the 30s before Friday morning. In fact, it will be mild enough on Friday for some rain showers to fall before passing back to some wet snow late. We could see a few inches of slushy wet snow before Friday night.

The weekend starts cool with temperatures in teens and make 20s on Saturday, but with a little sun. Sunday is watching rising clouds and a few rain or wet snow showers later in the day. Our weather can become more active next week with a limit cost and a few waves with low pressure riding along that front, but details are unclear at this time.

We update the prognosis when it becomes more clear.
