Max Scherzer accepts $ 15.5 million contract with Blue Jays

Max Scherzer has a new home.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner has accepted one year, $ 15.5 million deal with Blue Jays, reported Post’s Jon Heyman on Thursday.

Scherzer, who came from back surgery on the way into 2024, was limited to only nine starts with Rangers last season after dealing with several injuries involving his casting and a left hamstring stain.

When he was healthy enough to beat, Scherzer held a 3.95 era with 40 strikes over 43 ⅓ laps.

Scherzer, who turns 41 in July, is number two among active throwers with 216 career gains behind ex-meter and Tigers teammate Justin Verlander (262).

Toronto now hopes to improve his 74-88 last place in 2024.
