Delarton vs. Blair: nj wrestling powers to meet

Two of the country’s top high school wrestling teams will renew their rivalry when the No. 9 Blair Academy visits No. 5 DelBarton on Thursday night in Morristown.

It marks the fifth just season that the national-ranked programs meet since their first meeting in 2020. Blair has won all four match-ups, including the last two that were decided on the last match at heavy weight.

The two programs participate in the competition with a combined 10 wrestlers ranked nationally after flowrestling.

Apart from the first meeting between the schools on January 11, 2020 in Blairstown, where Warren County-Internskolen dominated 56-6, the last three meetings have been decided by only 14 points, as Delarton has clearly closed the gap in recent years.

Last winter, Blair deleted a deficit that came into the last match to pull a 30-25 win at home. And by 2023, Bucs secured a 26-24 win on the road.

It will be a classic chess match on Thursday with full strategy that appears between Delebarton -coach Bryan Stoll and Blair -trainer Ross Gitomer.
