Thursday (January 30) Evening, Black Crowes joined an all-star lineup of rock, pop, R&B, soul, country and hip-hop luminaires with the aim of raising money for those in need of the devastating fires , tore through Los Angeles earlier this month. Fireaid La Benefit Concert Concert, which fits a city as scattered and expansive like Los Angeles, included two venues with performances taking place at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum.
The Black Crowes hit the stage at the latter venue and rocked through their 1992 hit “Remedy” for an enthusiastic audience. After this crowd pleaser, Chris Robinson and Co. Two iconic California rockers.
First up: John Fogerty, who joined them to perform one of the best -loved hits in his old band, Creedence Clearwater Revival. “This song has a rainbow in it, and it’s just for you,” said Fogerty, who was backed by Crowes and his son Shane Fogerty on “Have you ever seen the rain?” The audience sang with the choir and swung back and forth to the beloved 60s classic.
Then, the newly reunited Atlanta rockers brought a Los Angeles-specific rock icon out-slash. Hard Rock Axman traded with his electric guitar for an acoustic guitar and streamed with Black Crowes’ rich Robinson on an affecting cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Going to California.”
Black Crowes’ mini-set followed performances by Joni Mitchell, Anderson .paak, Dr. Dre, Green Day, Billie Eilish, Earth, Wind & Fire, Alanis Morissette and many more. Revenue from FireAid La Benefit Concert Go against reconstruction efforts in Los Angeles and help with displaced families.
