Chelsea is pleased to welcome Femke to the club, where the young goalkeeper signed a three-and-a half-year agreement from the Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.








The 20-year-old played youth football with FC Uitgeest before she debuted in 2021 with VV Alkmaar. She continued to make her AZ Alkmaar debut, the team that replaced the VV in Eredivisie, in 2023.

When he came to blues, Liefting said, ‘It’s really amazing. I’m so proud. It’s just such a big club. I’m really honored to be here. ‘

Leader of Women’s Football Paul Green added: ‘Femke is an exciting goalkeeper that we have been tracking in the last few years.

“She has tremendous experience for a player of her age with over 50 senior performance in the Dutch league already to go with a famous career so far with the Dutch youth national teams.”

On the international scene, our new # 28 has impressed at the youth level for the Netherlands. She represented her country at the U-17s and U-19 European Championships before playing at the U-20s World Cup in Colombia last summer.

During this tournament, the young goalkeeper produced big rescues in crucial moments, including saving two shootout sanctions in the quarterfinals victory over the tournament hosts.

Liefting was appointed goalkeeper for the tournament and won the Golden Glove Award when the Netherlands ended up in fourth place.

Her form has recently been rewarded with senior calls, named in the last two Dutch troops.
