All Maui County schools close early due to severe weather

Honolulu (Hawaiinewsnow) – All Hawaii State Department of Education Schools in Maui County remains closed Friday.

The state closed schools early Thursday at Maui, Molokai and Lanai under the advice of Maui Emergency Management Agency (Mema) due to serious weather conditions.

According to the Hawaii State Department of Education, the decision is based on forecasts showing the storm period “Peak”, which affects the entire Maui County with the heaviest rain, wind, thunderstorm and flooding from 1 p.m. 18 Thursday to noon Friday.

These conditions are expected to affect safe access to and from schools.

At this point, all other Hidoe schools and offices are scheduled to be open Friday.
