Pentagon Intelligence Agency Pausing Events, Activities related to MLK DAY, BLACK HISTORY MONTH

In response to President Donald Trump’s executive order that prohibits diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, Pentagon’s Intelligence Agency has paused special event programs and related events, including Juneteenth, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Black History Month, Holocaust Days of Remembrance and Pride Month According to a note obtained by ABC News.

Despite being on the list of Defense Information Bureau’s break events and activities, the memo clarified that Martin Luther King Jr. DAY AND JUNETEENTH WILL STAY Federal Holidays.

“Defense Intelligence Agency collaborates with the Department of Defense to fully implement all executive orders and administrative guidance in a timely manner,” LT. CMDR. Seth Clarke, DIA spokesman, told ABC News in a statement when asked about the memo. “When we receive additional guidance, we will continue to update our internal guidance.”

ONE Copy of the memo started circulating on social media on Wednesday morning.

The affected events under the note dated January 28, 2025, include: Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Holocaust Day and Days of Remembrance, Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Pride, Juneteenth, Women’s Equality Day, National Hispanic Heritage Month, National Disability Employment Awareness Months Month and National American Indian Herican Indian Heritage Montth.

The break comes when Black History Month will begin on Saturday, February 1st.

Trump has targeted the DEI initiatives in a series of executive orders in his first week in office, where the White House says “Dei creates and then reinforces judgmental hostility and exacerbates interpersonal conflict.”

The note also noted that DIA would “pause the agency’s resource groups, affinity groups and employee network groups that are immediately with effect and so far.”
