Todd has not held back from criticizing media leaders, including his now-recently NBC executives, in recent months.

In December, the free-speaking Todd said he would have felt “abandoned” if he was George Stephanopoulos under the legal dispute leading to ABC News settling with the then president-elected Donald Trump for a total of $ 15 million.

“This was great for me and definitely a gut for anyone who works at a larger media company because I think it sets a precedent that will be very difficult to get out of potentially,” Todd told Substacker Chris Cillizza.

Todd also criticized NBC News in particular for hiring former Republican national committee chairman Ronna McDaniel as an analyst in March 2024. He openly questioned his managers to hire McDaniel and to put Welker in the awkward position by interviewing her around earlier 2020 – Election rhetorical.

“Let me handle the elephant in the room,” Todd Welker told in March. “I think our bosses owe you an excuse to have put you in this situation because I don’t know what to believe.”

Todd said that many of the network’s relationship with RNC under McDaniel’s leadership “had been met with gas lights” and “character assassination,” and he referred to the internal tumult of journalists at NBC News who were apoplectic over McDaniel’s employment. McDaniel’s contract was terminated less than a week later.
