DRDISRESSPECT Studio Midnight Society announces closure four months after “Significant” redundancies

The Midnight Society, the study, founded by the controversial streamer guy “Dr. Resectese” Beahm, closes its doors, four months after making “significant” redundancies. The news comes as Google announces that it is lifting Beahm’s YouTube revenue ban, which was introduced after his recording of “inappropriate” behavior with a “minor” last year.

The Midnight Society was founded by Beahm and former Call of Duty Community Manager Robert Bowling in 2021, and the study announced its first title – free -play vertical extraction shooter deaddrop – the following year. The development at Dedrop has continued since then, but 2024 turned out to be challenging for the study in the middle of Beahm’s admission that he exchanged “messages with an individual less back in 2017” that “leaned too much towards being inappropriate”.

Bowling and Midnight Society were quick to distance themselves from Beahm when the accusations of his behavior first emerged, but the study apparently was unable to weather the resulting storm. It announced “Significant” Disclaimers in September and accused “More Unexpected Challenges in recent months.” And now the Midnight Society is shutting down.

“Today we advertise the Midnight Society closes its doors after three incredible years, with a fantastic team of 55 developers contributing to our new IP up there,” the study wrote in a Declaration is shared on social mediaAdding it is “Active to seek other game studies that would be interested in offering employment opportunities to our talented team members.”

“We express our sincere gratitude to each of our members of society,” concluded the developer, “and (are) deeply sorry that we were unable to achieve our ultimate goals.”

Midnight Society’s closure coincides with the news that Google has raised its suspension that prevents Beahm from making money on his YouTube channel. The channel was originally demonized after Beahm’s admission of “inappropriate” behavior with a “minor” last June, and Google chose to maintain this suspension after an October appeal – despite Beahm’s attempt to backtrack on his statement a month earlier when he began to refer to the messages as “jokes”. Now, however, Google has announced a reversal of his decision.

“DRDISREPSECT was previously suspended from the YouTube Partner Program for violating our Creation Responsibility Policy,” it wrote in a Statement that is shared by Kotakus Ethan Gach . “Creators suspended from this program can apply for access, and after careful review of the channel’s recent activity, we have reintroduced it. If there are additional violations, we will take appropriate steps.” Google did not specify what had changed since last year’s appeal.

“What a strange world, he?” Said Beahm in a stream after YouTube’s turn (via Kotaku). “The day when the Midnight Society closes, we get earnings. What a fucking trip.”
