A chocolate -covered pastry product is remembered in three states due to a non -declared milk allergen.
Why it matters
“People who have an allergy or serious sensitivity to milk risk the risk of severe or life -threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” reads a release on the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) site.
As per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): “Food allergy affects an estimated 15 million people in the United States and is responsible for about 30,000 visits to the emergency department and 150-200 deaths each year.”
What to know
United Natural Trading of Edison, New Jersey began the volunteer recall of fresh direct dark chocolate -covered pastries after the subject was discovered after an “internal review of the label management system.”
Newsweek Contacted United Natural Trading for comment via E -mail outside of standard working hours on Friday.
The products were sent through online sales via a third -party supplier site in limited quantities to Connecticut, New Jersey and New York areas.
No illnesses had been reported from January 30, the release says.

According to the release, the party number can be found on the back of each retail packaging.

FDA
Separately, three chocolates got the highest recall classification from the FDA due to a non -declared milk allergen, Newsweek reported Wednesday.
Dark chocolate almonds, dark chocolate apricots and dark chocolate walnuts from Cal Yee Farm got a recall rating in class 1 after a recall in December affected stores in nine states, including California, Arizona, Virginia, New Mexico, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, Oregon Ohio and Pennsylvania.
In a press release at the time of the recall of December, Cal Yee Farms said: “No diseases have been reported to date.”
So far in January, the FDA has remembered at least six other products due to non -declared milk.

What happens next
Consumers who still have the pastry product with the specified party cells should not consume it but dispose of it, the release advised.
