LSUS KIM MULKEY was critical of officials after the bad heavy win vs. Oklahoma

Tempers flared through No. 7 LSU Women’s Basketball’s Victory Over No. 13 Oklahoma.

Early in the game, each team saw one of its players being thrown out for extra push after a bad call. LSU’s Sa’myah Smith and Oklahoma’s Liz Scott left the competition with less than five minutes to play in the frame. Both are sitting out of their next game.

Tigers’ head coach Kim Mulkey said it was “shocking” to see Smith involved in a shift.

“It’s like pushing, considered a fight,” said Tigers’ head coach Kim Mulkey. “So (the official) told me (Smith) was thrown out to a battle, just like Scott for them.”

Mulkey and Sooners’ head coach Jennie Baranczyk got every technical mistake during the competition. The latter received her in the second quarter to consistently criticize the officials. Mulkey joined the club in the second half after Flau’jae Johnson was called on her third error.

To add the calls to Smith and Mulkey, LSU was called on a team technical error to flop midway through the third quarter. Players’ reactions to Smith’s draft and the amount of errors called probably led to Tigers who exaggerated contact.

“We saw a lot of things tonight,” Mulkey said. “Think about what we saw. You saw broadcasts, you saw two teams score over 100. You looked technically on the second floppy and I said, ‘Well, where in the heck was the first flopp?’ I don’t remember they ever came to my bench and told me.
