Chocolate calls upgraded to the highest level of risk advertise FDA

Staten Island, NEW – A chocolate call in December 2024 has been upgraded to the highest level of risk of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which says consuming the product could “cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The FDA has awarded a class at threat level for the recall of Cal Yee Farm Dark Chocolate Almonds, Dark Chocolate Apricots and Dark Chocolate Walnuts.

The FDA said the products contain milk, soy, wheat and sesame, all allergens not listed on the label and the upgrade is reported by several media sources, including Consumeraffairs.com and Newsweek.com.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD & C #6 (a synthetic dye that gives an orange or yellow color) or almonds risk severe or life -threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products, according to the FDA.

The products were primarily distributed in California, Arizona, Virginia, New Mexico, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, Ohio and Pennsylvania. And many were distributed in fruit baskets available online through www.calyeefarm.comsaid the FDA.

The recalled Tems were packed in clear plastic zipper bags in either 8-ounce, 1 pound, 2 pounds and 5 pounds of sizes with a pale yellow label identifying the product in front of the bag and a small white label containing an UPC code on the back of The bag.

Fruit baskets were packed in a basket with a yellow label that identified the product on the back of the basket. For Boa Vista Orchard brand Butter Toffee Almonds, the product was packed in a 6 ounce of clear plastic zipper bag with a white label that identified the product.

The recall was initiated by the manufacturer following an FDA inspection of the company’s production facility.

Customers with milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD & C #6 and almond allergy/sensitivity that have purchased the affected products should not consume them and should dispose of them or return them to the manufacturer for a full refund.

Consumers with questions can contact the manufacturer at (707) 425-5327 or [email protected]) from 7 p.m. 11 to 19.30, Monday-Friday.
