‘Babygirl,’ Best Movie, TV -streaming

Valentine’s Day may be a few weeks away, but “Babygirl” is already steaming video-on-demand platforms, with the erotic thriller now available for stream. Director and Author Halina Reijn’s Flick Stars of 2024 stars Nicole Kidman, who served a Golden Globe -Nomination for her performance as Romy, a technical CEO who gets dissatisfied with her marriage with husband Jacob (Antonio Banderas), which led to a Torrid love affair with young trainee Samuel (Harris Dickinson). Available for rent or buy on video-on-demand platforms

Also available for rent and buying on VOD platforms is “Sing Sing”, the acclaimed drama based on the story of a truly theater group composed of imprisoned men. Globe movie critic Odie Henderson wrote in her 4-star review that the film is “a must-see showing the true power of the empathic machine we call the films,” with Star Colman Domingo, like Divine G, a talented playwright and Artist from the Prison Theater Group. The highly expected fourth season of “Mythic Quest” has started on Apple TV+, with its first two episodes debuting on the streaming service this week. The comedy series from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” Alums Charlie Day, Megan Ganz and Rob McEhenney centers around the workers in a fictional study behind a popular video game after these nerdy players and all their fun workplace shenanigans. Binge-worthy weekend TV elections

Go over to Max to see the first two seasons of “The White Lotus” before the award -winning show returns to its third season on February 16. With A-LIST stars like Boston-native Jennifer Coolidge and lots of amazing placements, HBO’s anthology Series is a biting satire in the class and privilege as it follows the drama between guests and workers on the fictional White Lotus Resort Chain. This weekend is also a good time to binge-see “Yellowjackets” before the hit series returns to season three on Paramount+ with Showtime February 14. The Emmy-nominated thriller with Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci explores the lingering consequences of a decades old event in the Canadian wilderness, where a high school’s football team had to resort to dark choices to survive. The South Korean Dark Comedy-thriller “Parasite” cleaned up at the Academy Awards in 2020 and won four Oscars, including best image, best international feature film and best original screenplay, with filmmaker Bong Joon-Ho, who earns nodded to best director. The film, which hits Netflix on February 1 (and is also currently streaming at Max), tells the story of a poor family who lies their way to work for a wealthy household, leading to deadly consequences when their deception loosens. ‘Crazy, stupid, love’

Are you interested in a movie night instead this weekend? Try 2011 Rom-Com “Crazy, Dumble, Love” with Bay State Native Steve Carell, who hits Hulu February 1st (it is currently streaming on Paramount+). Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei and Kevin Bacon also play in this sweet story centered around Carell’s character, Cal, one down on his luck guy who tries to get his romantic groove back after his marriage falls apart.
