Meta agrees to pay $ 25 million to settle trial with President Donald Trump

Meta has agreed to settle with President Donald Trump after accusing the company of violating his rights by suspending the president’s social media accounts after the 6th of January attack on Capitol, according to a letter from Meta’s lawyers.

Meta confirmed that it will give a $ 22 million donation to Trump’s presidential library and will also pay $ 3 million in lawyer fees.

“I am writing to inform the court that the parties have reached an agreement to settle the named plaintiffs’ individual claims and resolve this case,” the letter reads.

In July 2021, Trump Meta and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg sued to “censor” his social media account after the January 6th attack and accused the company of colliding with democratic lawmakers of curbing the then president.

“Akin with forcing a round stick into a square hole, Facebook declared that specific positions of plaintiff had violated Facebook’s self -imposed ‘social standards’, the trial said.

The settlement comes as Zuckerberg has tried to level his relationship with Trump, prominent participant in his inauguration earlier this month and made several trips to Mar-A-Lago. Meta donated $ 1 million to his campaign, ended his DEI programs and renewed its fact control policy, while Zuckerberg has expressed regret for his company’s previous policies.

“It’s really a smooth slope, and it just came to a point where it’s just, ok, this is ruining so much confidence, especially in the United States, having this program,” Zuckerberg told Joe Rogan about the company’s fact control policy.
