New Direct Los Angeles flights win for the entire state

In a major victory for Victoria, the Allan Labor government has secured an agreement with Delta Air Lines to deliver three new direct flights a week from Los Angeles to Melbourne, from December this year.

The Minister of Tourism, Sports and major events announced Steve Dimopoulos today that the agreement will mean an additional 86,000 seats between Victoria and the United States available to travelers on one of the world’s largest airlines – with the number that will rise again when Delta adds more services down the field.

The new flights will create competition in the market and shut down the cost of international flights out of Victoria, making the journey to the United States more affordable for families.

As Los Angeles is a major hub for Delta, travelers will be able to connect to more than 40 airports throughout the United States and Latin America from LAX.

The flights will also bring thousands of more tourists from the US and Canada – these are typically outdoors and adventures seeking travelers, and Victoria is filled with natural wonders for them to explore.

The United States is the state’s fourth largest international market for tourists, with Victoria welcoming more than 200,000 people in the year ending September 2024 – spent about $ 358 million while in the state.

The deal is a partnership between Allan Labor and Melbourne Airport, as part of a new financing program announced in the Labor’s financial growth declaration.

Industry Partnership Program (IPP) enables Victoria to match financing from industry partners to destination marketing to increase the number of people visiting our state.

Delta’s service between Los Angeles and Melbourne will operate three times a week, with flights departing Los Angeles at 1 p.m. 21.25 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, arrive at Melbourne at. 08:15 local time on Wednesdays, Friday and Sundays.

Return flights from Melbourne depart at. 10:25 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays arriving in Los Angeles at. 06:10 local time the same day.
