Punxsutawney Phil to make its prediction from 2025 Groundhog Day

Despite a lack of formal meteorology training, Punxsutawney Phil delivers one of the most expected weather forecasts of the year.

On Sunday, Phil weighs on whether there will be six weeks more in the winter or in the spring will get an early start.

The tradition dates back to 140 years back. According to data, he has seen his shadow 107 times compared to not seeing his shade 22 times. There is no record from 10 Groundhog days.

Last year, the end of a three-year stripe marked when Phil saw his shadow.

Despite the pomp and circumstances around Phil as he curls out of his hole, Phil’s accuracy is questionable.

In the 21st century, Phil has been less than 50% exactly with his forecasts. But by not seeing his shadow in 2024, Phil predicted exactly an early spring. February 2024 marked the third Warmest in the History of the United States. Well above average lasted in March, the government forecasts said.
