Red Hot Chili Peppers Playing California-themed set on FireAid

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ music has always been tied to California through their 40-year career, and it was on full viewing under the Los Angeles Band’s set for FireAid Benefit Concert on Thursday night (January 30).

The Fireaid advantage took place at two arenas, the KIA forum and the Intuit Dome, with revenue going against the reconstruction of the communities that have been destroyed by the recent La Wildfires.

The chili pepper fruits played the forum and delivered a four-song set of “Californication”, “Dani California”, “Black Summer” and “Under The Bridge.”

While the first two songs’ connections to California are quite obvious, the other two songs also fit into the theme of the band’s set.

“Black Summer” from RHCPS 2022 -Album Unlimited lovemay not be directly tied to California, but its opening lines have an eerie meaning in view of the destruction that just took place in the Los Angeles area: “A lazy rain is I/ Heaven refusing to cry/ cremation takes its piece of your supply.”

Meanwhile, “Under the Bridge” is about singer Anthony Kiedis’ battle with addiction, and the time he used to make drugs under a bridge, one that Kiedis has since revealed was in the center of Los Angele.

At one point under the set, Bassist Flea – who was wearing just a pair of underwear – told the audience, ”Los Angeles is our home. We fuck you! “

Red Hot Chli Peppers’ set on the FireAid concert was among the highlights of the night, which also included a surprise Nirvana gene association and Green Day, which opened the show with Billie Eilish.
