When Real Madrid had dropped points at Espanyol on Saturday night, Barcelona came into the afternoon’s clash by knowing that a win would take them back to within four points from the leaders.

The game was delayed early as Gavi and Tomas Conechny were involved in a very worrying clash of heads. Both players had to get rid of Fermin Lopez and Carlos Martin in their respective places.

Lamine Yamal was best at his Mercurial with the teenager who launched through the opposition defense on a number of occasions.

As it was, though, Blaugrana fought to really test the Alavés defense and went into the break, which is speechless.

In the second half and at the hour, the mark was finally broken when Robert Lewandowski volleyed in after a smart cross from Raphinha.

And that’s how it was when the Catalan club made up the ground on the Madrid sides.
