Americans may find themselves paying the cost of customs rates for import

A day after signing steep new tariffs in Mexico, Canada and China, President Donald Trump recognized what economists, members of Congress and even some of his own helpers – in their past lives – have said all the time: Americans can find themselves to pay the cost.

“This will be the golden age of America! Will there be any pain? Yes, maybe (and maybe not!), Trump beef in all capital letters on his truth’s social platform.

The message that appeared in the hour before Trump arrived at Hans West Palm Beach, Florida, Golf Club for the second day in a row was a warning warning. Trump is seriously looking at fulfilling his campaign promises to end illegal immigration, limit the flow of deadly drugs and rebalance of continental trade. But doing it will be uncomfortable – or worse – for Americans who are already struggling with a high cost of living.

“We will do America well again, and it will all be worth the price to be paid,” Trump wrote. “We are a country that is now being run with common sense – and the results will be spectacular !!!”

As industries support the new tariffs – 25% on goods from Mexico and Canada and 10% on imports from China – it is left to see how long it will take for higher costs to influence US consumers. The tariffs are set to take effect Tuesday at. 12:01 et.

In a tacit recognition that upward pressure could affect the gas and heat costs of Americans, Trump charged only a 10% duty on Canadian oil and gas.

Already, Canada and Mexico have moved in retaliation – reluctantly in the event of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who said under a bleak address from Ottawa late Saturday: “We won’t be here.”

If the back-and-backs remain in place for a long period of time, the “pain” warned Trump about becoming a reality.

But even some Trump allies have privately hoped that after implementing the hard new tasks – and proving to the world that he is willing to act resolutely – Trump could eventually ease as long as he has drawn some concessions.

What exactly these concessions are, however, are not clear. Before implementing customs duties, Trump did not meet or talked on the phone with Trudeau or with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum to spell his demands.

Trudeau said on Saturday he had been trying to reach Trump since the inauguration, but his call has not been returned.

Briefing -Journalists Saturday night refused officials in the White House to put specific benchmarks that Canada or Mexico could reach by tightening their limits or limiting fentanyl flows that would make it possible to lift customs.

And Trump even told journalists late Friday that he was not looking for any concessions at all. In his posts on social media on Sunday morning, his rationale for customs expanded far beyond punishment for the illegal stream of fentanyl.

“The United States has major deficits with Canada, Mexico and China (and almost all countries!) Owes $ 36 trillion and we won’t be the ‘stupid country’ anymore,” he wrote. “Make your product in the US and there are no tariffs!”
