Lee Joo-Sil Death: Squid Games actor dies, 81 years old

Octopus games Star Lee Joo-Sil has died months after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.

The South Korean actor, 81, died today (February 2nd) in his family home in the city of Uijeongbu, according to Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo.

The performer, who played the mother of Undercover Detective Hwang Joon-Ho in the second season of Netflix’s Smash Hit Dystopian drama, was diagnosed with the disease in November.

Lee was born in 1944 and began her acting career in the sixties with roles in stage productions and as a voice actor before landing a stable series of roles in K dramas.
