Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry Jager Sepp Straka After windy, rainy day at Pebble Beach

Pebble Beach, California-Sepp Straka took a trip down to the beach that derailed its round on Saturday, and then came with four birdies on his last five holes in a cold, whipping wind for a 2-under 70 to regain the lead over it Irish duo by Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry in AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

McIlroy was practically flawless, at least under the ugly conditions, by getting through the exposed stretch of Pebble Beach without dropping a shot and cutting around after a bogey-free 65.

Lowry started for a Birdie-ee-Birdie start that made a few mistakes around the swing, and he ended with two birdies on the last three holes for a 65.

Just don’t get the idea that Irish weather was suitable for McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and Lowry (Ireland), especially because they are now neighbors in South Florida.

“It might fit something, but I don’t enjoy it,” Lowry said. “I live in Florida for a reason. I think my game is well equipped to deal with these conditions and I go out there, kind of no fear, and I know I just need to knock the hatch down and make pairs when I can. “

This year’s second signature event produced big names at the top, and this one had a distinctive Ryder Cup feeling – European, that is.

Straka, the Austrian-born Georgia Bulldog, who came out of a win in the California Desert, blasted out of the sand to 4 meters for a last birdie who put him on 16 under 200, a shot in front of McIlroy and Lowry, his Ryder Cup teammates From Marco Simone.

Justin Rose from England, a Pebble Beach winner in 2023 and part of Team Europe later that year, was another shot at the back.

Scottie Scheffler held in his debut in 2025 of his hand surgery from a freak puncture wound, it together for a 69 and were six shots at the back.

Gone are the days of the old Crosby Clambake, where amateurs are back on Friday. But it is reminiscent of the clambake -weather, not the most beautiful pictures, but a delight to see Golf’s best players have their hands full with a wind ripping from the Pacific.

Scheffler couldn’t believe it when he hit a 5-iron as clean as it can be on the 10th hole and then only fly 155 meters, 20 meters shortly after his goal. Lowry knows the feeling. He drilled a 3-iron and came up briefly.

McIlroy had a suitable game plan. When the wind arrived when he was on the sixth hole, he said he turned to Caddy Harry Diamond and said, “Let’s try to chip the ball today.”

“I feel I wasn’t doing one full time,” McIlroy said.

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro -am 2025 - Round Three

Here’s a look at tee times, groupings and how to see the last round of AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

He had to save a few six times from the rough and bunkers, no more valuable than from down into the tall grass under 10. Green to 6 feet and an important pair of putt.

“It was an important up-and-down to just to keep the momentum in the round,” he said.

The 10th hole is where Straka almost came undone. His approach sailed well to the right, over the cliff and on the beach. He went down to the sand and picked up his golf ball, took the penalty kick instead of trying the dramatic shot from the beach and doing well to save Bogey.

But he posted the next two holes and went from a four-shot lead early in the round to afterwards with two shots. However, Straka is equipped with newly won confidence and stabilized on its way in with Birdies on the 14th and 15th holes, a 30-foot birdie putt for today’s only birdie on the day on par-3 17. And his closing birdie.

It sets a final round where six players are separated by two shots and Scheffler, the world’s # 1 player hanging around the edge of strife. He did not birdie a couple 5 before the last hole – two par 5s on the front was under benign relationship – but made a few birdies late.

“I hung in there on a day when I didn’t have my best things,” Scheffler said.

McIlroy usually does not have much success on the West Coast – his lonely victory in California was in early May in combat games at Harding Park in 2015 – but has talked about this being a big year for him on several front. Pebble Beach was not ahead of his mind, but it is now.

“It’s really cool to be in violation of this early in the season,” he said.

McIlroy and Lowry both started making a hole-in-a-lowry on the seventh hole at Pebble Beach, McIlroy the 15th at Spyglass and Now the long-time friends from Irish Golf will be in the last group with Straka.

“There are a few courses in the world that you would like to win, and this is definitely one of them,” Lowry said. “So you try not to think of such things, and hopefully it will come to you someday.”
