South Carolina Women’s Basketball Rapid Reaction: Auburn

South Carolina pulled away from Auburn late for an 83-66 victory. Here’s what stood out to me from the game.

– I’m willing to chalk the bad defense up to play at noon on a Sunday. Track Record over the rest of the season is too strong, and with A’Ja Wilson’s Jersey retirement ceremony it was a fairly early morning.

However, it would be great to see South Carolina closing Georgia on Thursday as a return.

– Raven Johnson had a strange game. She had a nice state line: nine points, seven assists and a career high six stealing. But she also made some pretty shiny mistakes.

Officially, Johnson had only two revenue, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. She threw an alley in between Milaysia Fulwiley and Joyce Edwards, who ended up clashing in the air. She fell out of bounds after a steal, and instead of handing it over to Tessa Johnson next to her, it threw wildly into the frontcourt for a turnover.

She also lost the overview of the clock at the end of the third quarter and threw a half-track shot instead of moving on to Fulwiley to get a more reluctant shot.

But these are things you get for nit-pick after another double-digit conference benefit.

– It seems that Maryam Dauda -about experience is over. Before goodbye, Dawn Staley said she was trying to force Dauda to be a contributor. But on Sunday, when Sania Feagin got into bad trouble late in the first half, Staley Sakima Walker deployed instead of Dauda. Dauda entered waste time in the fourth quarter. None of the players scored or got a rebound.
