Visible fire forces passengers to plan in Bush InterContinental Airport

Passengers were forced to detect from a plane in George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Sunday morning, after a motor problem during the start got visible smoke and fire to be seen on the right wing.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. 8:35 Sunday morning at United Airlines Flight 1382. The flight had 104 passengers and five crew members and had to travel from Bush to Laguardia Airport in New York.

The airport’s rescue fires with HFD responded to stage and helped with the evacuation.

KPRC 2’s Gage Goulding spoke with Ashlyn Sharp, a passenger on the aircraft that recorded a clear overview of the wing and gave the recordings to KPRC 2.

A passenger can be heard and says, “Please, please get us out of here.”

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released a statement confirming the incident.

During the start, United Flight 1382 received an indication of an engine and stopped the start while he was still on the runway. Passengers planned on the runway via a combination of slides and stairs and was bused to the terminal. There are no reported damage at this time. We have set up another flight to take customers to their destination at. 12.30 ct.

A short time later, a specialist in Public Affairs with a few more clarity on the nature of the incident, which referred to it as a “engine problem.”

The crew at the United Airlines Flight 1382 probably aborted its start from George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport in Texas due to a reported engine edition around 10 pm. 8:35 Local Time Sunday 2nd February. Passengers planned on the runway and were bused to the terminal. Airbus A319 flew to Laguardia Airport in New York. FAA will investigate. Contact the airline for more information.
