Mavericks make miserable franchise history in first match after Luka Doncic -handel

Lost in the middle of the whirlwind of the noise around Dallas Mavericks’ Blockbuster -trade to send Luka Doncic to Los Angeles? There was still a game to be played on Sunday.

Less than 24 hours after the earth-shaking transaction that sent the franchise’s face to Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Mavs fit up a Sunday Matinee competition against Cleveland Cavaliers. Dallas was already ready to be brief with Starters Kyrie Irving, PJ Washington and Daniel Forford all with injury. The trade could not provide reinforcements with incomes Davis, and Max Christie still needs on board.

So Mavs train on Cavaliers, who owns the best record in the East, without more starters and deals with the emotional aftermaths in the transaction. They felt very clear as the team set a new franchise record for the worst performance in the first quarter of the organization’s history.

When the buzzer sounded, Mavericks was down 50-19 to Cleveland. The 31 point deficit marks Dalla’s worst after a quarter of the game breaking a record from 1981, according to Local broadcast.

Cases improved something in the second quarter when Mavs managed to put 27 points on the board in the next 12 minutes. Unfortunately, it was more of the same at the other end of the court; Cavs scored 41 points to set the scoring of 91-46 at the break, marking Cleveland’s best performance in the first half ever.

All in all, a very bad day for Maverick’s fans everywhere.
