Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars performs La Fires tribute at Grammys

The 67. Annual Grammy Awards hit a gloomy tone on Sunday night as the music’s biggest stars paid tribute to a city in mourning.

After destructive fires swept over Los Angeles earlier this month, the ceremony decided to move on as planned, but with increased emphasis on raising money for relief efforts.

During the night, host Trevor Noah and artists such as Billie Eilish paid tribute to the town of Angels and the front -line staff who released the fire that threatened to consume it.

In a particularly overlying performance, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, who recently collaborated on the hit single “Die With A Smile”, covered the classic Golden State Anthem “California Dreamin ‘.

The Mamas & Papas tune, which became synonymous with the folk scene born of the city’s Laurel Canyon, evokes images of an idyllic California. When they harmonized, Gaga and Mars seemed emotional.

The performance followed a video that detailed the destructive blows and the lost structures. Harrowing recordings demonstrated out-of-control flamers and families that are heart-brided about the homes and schools left in ash.

Lady Gaga Grammy’s ad contains new music video

Gaga, whose new album was announced earlier this week, teased the project with a full-length music video in the form of a MasterCard advertising during one of the program’s commercial breaks. When performances continue all night, the fire is expected to remain on the middle stage. The show opened with a rendering of Randy Newman’s Ballad to City of Angels “I Love La” performed by Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith, Griffin Goldsmith, John Legend, Sheryl Crow, St. Vincent, Brittany Howard and Brad Paisley.

Several stars sported blue pins on the red carpet to support Musicares Relief Fund and Noah, also wearing a blue pin, encouraged both participants and viewers to donate.
