Icy roads lead to 2-hour delayed opening for many Lehigh Valley schools (update)

Update: Lehigh Valley Weather: Necessary rain does not mean much for precipitating deficits

Slick Veje has led to many Lehigh Valley school districts opening later on Friday.

A two -hour delayed opening is in effect for Easton Area School DistrictAt Bethlehem Area School DistrictAt Nazareth Area School DistrictBangor Area School District, and Allentown School District.

WFMZ-69 News Reports more delayed openings for Northampton Area School District, Wilson Area School District, Parkland School District and Whitehall-Coplay School District as well as various charter and private schools.

Lehigh Valley community is under a winter weather advice on Friday for freezing rain expected mainly north of the Interstate 78 corridor.

National Weather Service issued the advice for 2 to 9 Friday across Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties in eastern Pennsylvania and Morris, Sussex and Warren County in New Jersey.

Up to 0.10 of an empty isaccumulation is possible, which can make sidewalks, roads and bridges smooth. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, be careful and prepare for possible power cuts.
