Brenda Blethyn supports new ITV drama to fill Veras Sunday night Castle | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Brenda Blethyn has publicly approved the show, which is set to “replace” Vera in ITVS Sunday Night Line-up and express her support via social media.

After a 14-year-old stint portraying one of TV’s most iconic detectives, the BAFTA-winning Brenda bid farewell with its role as DCI Stanhope when the last series of Vera was broadcast on ITV in early January.

After sharing the screen with Auf Wiedersehen PET star Kevin what was in the penultimate episode ‘Inside’, Brenda made her last performance as Vera on January 2nd. The final saw her famous character pack up and leave Northumberland and City Police HQ for good, and turned down a promotion and choice of withdrawing from her detective days.

Over 6 million viewers set out to witness Vera’s conclusion, leaving a gap in ITV’s schedule. Traditionally, the new series of Vera occupied at. 20.00 Sunday evening in January/February.

Since Vera’s conclusion, both playing nicely and out there premiere on Sunday evenings, with the latter scheduled to broadcast the last two episodes this weekend.
