Myles Garrett Trade Rummers Closed by Browns GM Andrew Berry

Mobile, ala. – Cleveland Brown’s General Manager Andrew Berry may find himself to discuss potential deals with his friends this week during and around senior bowl practice, but he confirmed on Tuesday that he will not talk about defensive end Myles Garrett.

Garrett suggested late in the season that he would not commit to a long-term future with Browns before talking to Berry and other senior officials about the team’s plans to quickly recover from a 3-14 campaign. But Berry told journalists that Cleveland will not trade Garrett, which is currently signed through 2026.

“We always have a really good and direct two -way communication with our players (and), we are really good at Myles, of course as a big piece of our future,” Berry said. “We look forward to him being on the field. As I said at my (early January) press conference, we see to us that he is going from Cleveland to Canton when his career is over. “

Garrett, 29, is again a finalist for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award, which he won last year. This last season, Garrett became the youngest player to reach 100 career series and the first player to record 14 or more sacks in four consecutive seasons.

In December, Garrett said he was not interested in being part of another reconstruction and that 2024 was the most disappointing season he had had, which included Cleveland, which went 0-16 when Garrett was a rookie in 2017 .

Garrett could have been angling to become the highest paid non-quarterback in the NFL story with his comments, and it sounds like he might come his way. Berry said earlier he did not imagine Brown’s throwing core players to tackle their salary-cap issues, and he said here in mobile that he would not be willing to listen to offers to Garrett-self these offers included several first round choices.

“I don’t want to go into contract discussions (and), I wouldn’t do it in public, but I think you can assume we expect to get (it done) at some point,” Berry said. “We want Myles to retire as a brown.”

Berry and a Browns quota that includes coach Kevin Stefanski meets and evaluates draft prospects from the sidelines of the Senior Bowl practice this week. Stefanski does not usually participate in the Senior Bowl, but he is here this year with Browns back in the Quarterback search business and holds No. 2 election in April’s draft.
