Southampton turns to Chelsea’s sister club for defensive help

According to Fabrizio Romano, Southampton has shown interest in Ligue 1 defender Abakar Sylla. The saints intend to sign him on a loan without any buy option included.

What if I tell you that more than a quarter of Southampton’s loss this season came after taking the lead? You certainly won’t believe it. But this is actually the truth.

Even with a stacked defensive watch list, the saints have looked miserable to hold on to a lead recently. Despite a few full back signnings, a centerback reinforcement still makes sense.

Fortunately, with just over a day, Southampton has prioritized a defender who signs for Boss Ivan Juric.

After completing Albert Gronbaek’s signature, they are sacred on another Ligue 1 Prodigy Abakar Sylla. The club has already submitted a signing proposal.

Recently transfers expert Fabrizio Romano Confirmed Southampton’s approach and said: “Southampton formally submits to signing Abakar Sylla on loans from Strasbourg. No purchase option included, straight loan until 2002 born center back from Blueco Group.”

So far this season has Sylla had 15 appearances to his name. Although not a regular starter for Strasbourg, the 22-year-old physical pulls out. Since he is 6’2 tall, Sylla could be an important backup for veteran Saints star Jan Bednarek.

Now, with the transfer deadline approaching fast, it would not be easy for the saints to hit an appointment. But there is a former network link that can come to Southampton’s rescue.

Together with Chelsea, Strasbourg comes under the umbrella of Todd Boehlys owned Blueco. Interestingly, a pure look at the shared story between blues and the saints quite clearly their relationship.

After having a notorious joint defensive pool, including Wayne Bridge, Oriel Romeu, and recently, Romeo Lavia, it wouldn’t be too much for blues to interfere with Southampton’s advantage in the Sylla case.

Should that happen, Southampton will enjoy a positive ending to the winter transfer window.

Already a 2-1 win against Ipswich has increased their morals big time, who knows, an intensified relegation comeback loaded next.
