Guilt Deshaun Watson -Trade for Myles Garrett who wants out of Cleveland

The defeat and dysfunction finally broke Myles Garrett in Cleveland. The most surprising part of his Monday trade demand via social media is that it took so long.

Garrett, 29, comes out of a possible other straight defensive player in the year, complete with 14 sacks, 22 tackles for a loss and three forced fumbles. He has been a star at Browns since they first ejected him together from Texas A&M in 2017.

The franchise is terrible. He is not the problem. And now he doesn’t want the team to pull down his career.

“While I have loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete at the biggest phases does not allow me to be complacent,” Garrett wrote on Instagram. “The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it’s always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. “

The NFL team can turn their fortunes on a crown -Washington won three games last year and reached the NFC Championship game this year, after all. That’s how little Garrett believes in browns. He’s wasted eight big seasons there. He won’t do another.

That is the continued fall of one of the worst trades in the NFL story -Brown’s 2022 decision to trade in six draft elections, including three first rounders, to acquire Deshaun Watson from Houston after a sexual assault scandal involving dozens of massage therapists.

Cleveland, unmatched by something – including Watson’s pending suspension – signed him to a five -year -old, fully guaranteed $ 230 million.

Watson has so far managed only 19 touchdowns in 19 starts, a race marked with mediocre games, league punishment and injury. Browns went just 3-14. The talent on the guard schedule is terrible, partly because of all the lost draft elections.

It’s a mistake asking for another disaster – your best player, your fan favorite, your franchise cornerstein defensive Lineman who says the situation is hopeless and he has to get out of there.

Garrett had already intimated he would be traded. However, General Manager Andrew Berry said last week that they would not listen to offers, which probably caused Garrett to be even more public and direct in his messages, here during the Super Bowl week no less.

Maybe it will jump him to a challenger – of which there will be plenty of options. Philadelphia? Detroit? Cincinnati?

The Watson trade is where all this begins. Browns had Baker Mayfield, but didn’t believe him; He has since taken Tampa Bay to the playoffs twice. They saw Watson as an upgrade, which was potentially true if he could regain his form before the scandal and could stop the abominable behavior of it.

The award was incredible, an overview and over -duty that spoke with desperation that did not seem necessary. Cleveland didn’t care.

“We are sure of Deshaun and excited to move on with him as our quarterback and support his real and purposeful efforts,” said team owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam in a statement at the time.

So much for that.

It has become so bleak that Garrett requires him to be jumped from a situation where he is at least individually happy and flowering.

“As a kid who dreamed of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a super bowl – and this goal burns me today more than ever,” Garrett wrote. “My love for the community in northeastern Ohio and the incredible fanbase of Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. The last eight years have shaped me into the man I am today.”

Around the only bright side here for Cleveland is that they can start recovering some of the lost draft of the Watson trade. What is Garrett worth? Maybe two choices of the first round? Maybe a first and a few others?

He is obviously as good as there is in the league at a position of extreme value. He won’t be 30 until December 29th. Conditioning, forces and attitude have never been a question. And if you can get 14 sacks on a 14-loss team, what is possible on a team that wants to win it all?

Garrett in Detroit with Aiden Hutchinson? Garrett in Washington on a young and hungry team? Garrett in Cincinnati, where Bengals has all the violation they need? Garrett As part of an elite’s defensive line in Philadelphia, should Eagles act as a cap magic?

Everyone will try – including reconstruction of teams like Las Vegas or New England trying to produce a pink future for themselves.

Wherever it will be, it will not be in Cleveland unless Browns finds a miracle to convince him that they are better placed than Garrett at the moment thinks.

He wants a challenger, and ever since the Deshaun Watson trade, Cleveland has not looked like much of one.
