College Basketball Rankings: Prediction of the AP voting Top 25 sees several major changes after disturbed losses

The unpredictable character of college basketball continues to catch the top 25 teams away through conference games, leading to massive disturbances from start to finish every week. The last seven days have been no different.

With loss from top to bottom, some teams that feared the setback they thought they were facing could actually keep steady on the rankings considering the other results that followed. Those who split the week can even make a case to move up in some cases.

As the dust settles on another chaotic week of college basketball, here is a predictable look at what the 2024-25 AP vote Top 25 could look on Monday.

Predicted AP -voting top 25

1. Auburn (Last week: 1)

Auburn continues to dominate in SEC and pick up two more wins against LSU and Ole Miss. The tigers now have plenty of pillow between themselves and the rest of the college basketball package.

2. Duke (Last week: 2)

Duke picked up one of the two most important victories on their schedule and defeated North Carolina at home. Blue Devils also struck by NC State to start the week and help build the victory stretch in everything.

3. Alabama (Last week: 4)

Alabama takes advantage of the losses from those around them, and extends again after taking care of the business against Mississippi State and Georgia in the SEC game. Crimson Tide is now returning to the range where they started the season.

4th Purdue (Last week: 10)

Purdue continues their slow and steady movement up the top 25 rankings, which is helped by a win against the rival in the state of Indiana this week. Boilermakers have made their case with a stable game to capitalize on the disturbances around them

5. Tennessee (Last week: 8)

Tennessee fell a game early in the week against Kentucky, but rebounded well with a blowout victory against Florida, which also served as revenge for the crooked result in the first meeting between the two.

6. Florida (Last week: 5)

Florida split results this week and beat Georgia before suffering from a blow -up loss against Tennessee. Gators shared the season series with the latter, despite none of the game being competitive.

7. Houston (Last week: 6)

Houston got a road gain against West Virginia in the midweek slate, but failed to take advantage of the losses around them on Saturday as they lost against Texas Tech at home. Cougars remain in the mixture in BIG 12, but abandon the ground.

8. Iowa State (Last week: 3)

Iowa State slid up in the Big 12 game, not even, but twice over the past seven days. The first loss came against Arizona in overtime, the second was a blowout against a fought Kansas State team.

9. Michigan State (Last week: 7)

Michigan State started the week with a win over Minnesota, but then took a loss on the road to the USC this weekend. The Spartans win Streak ending, and the same will occur their top 25 rankings.

10. Texas A&M (Last week: 13)

Texas A&M has an opportunity to get into the top 10 of the AP voting this week thanks to disruptions around them while taking care of Oklahoma and South Carolina business to avoid some of the few resumption-hurting-hurting losses in SEC This season.
