Bradford City agrees to sign Blackburns Joe Hilton

Bradford City has agreed to an agreement to sign Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Joe Hilton in a permanent deal, Sources have told football insides.

The 25-year-old has been the backup goalkeeper in Blackburn ever since he broke through the Academy of Ewood Park, and he has not performed in the first team this season.

Hilton has played only once for Blackburn throughout his career, where most of his playing time came elsewhere, where his brightest spell was on Hamilton.

The goalkeeper appeared 23 appearances for the Scottish side, admitted to 25 goals and held seven clean sheets.

Hilton was out of contract at the end of this season, but Blackburn has chosen to leave him in the January window after interest from Bantams.

Graham Alexander seeks to strengthen his opportunities between the sticks, with Sam Walker, Colin Doyle and Zac Hadi already at the West Yorkshire Club.

Joe Hilton will increase Bradford City’s promotion hope

Bradford is pushing for promotion from League Two this season and is currently sitting seventh in the table after 28 games.

Alexander’s men have faired well defensively so far, with only three teams in the division having admitted fewer goals than them.

Hilton will give some competition to Walker, who has been Bradford’s first -choice goalkeeper throughout this season.
